Forty per cent of UK expect to spend more money on IT in the coming years, a higher percentage than any other country in the world, according to ITSM vendor Axios Systems.

However, its survey also revealed 30 per cent of UK organisations expect their IT Budget to decrease in the next few years, thought this is lower than in the US, where half of companies expect their budgets to be cut. Axios predicts that expenditure will remain steady for the next 12 months before accelerating.

The biggest industry jumps when it come to IT budget increases will be in telecommunications, financial services and education, while the biggest losses will occur in energy and oil, public sector/government and retail, said Axios.

A total 80 per cent of UK decision makers in businesses with between 500 and 5,000 workers told Axios their organisations have a high level of Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) maturity, compared to 69 per cent of US organisations claiming the same.

Tasos Symeonides, CEO of Axios Systems, said: “This research in particular aims to stimulate a discussion within organisations about developing better service management, based on observations focused on industry, region and organisational size.

“The end goal, of course, is to provide C-level executives with exclusive, evidence-based resources that support a competitive service management strategy for their enterprise.”
